Famous Opera Choruses
Famous Opera Choruses is a semester 2 ensemble taken by Richard Gill OAM and is open to all students, whatever your musical background.
Richard Gill is one of Australia’s pre-eminent and most admired conductors and is internationally respected as a music educator, specialising in opera, musical theatre and vocal and choral training.
Students in this subject can expect to be singing choruses from Claudio Monteverdi’s Orfeo, through to Marvin Hamlisch’s Chorus Line. Composers represented will include: Monteverdi, Purcell, Gluck, Mozart, Beethoven, Rossini, Verdi, Wagner, Bizet, Gounod, Puccini, Britten, Stravinsky, Rodgers, Bernstein and Hamlisch.
Every session will begin with a speech and sung warm-up based on the material being presented in the class. The class will function as if it were a chorus in a professional opera house.
Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity to work with one of Australia’s most renowned conductors.
