Computer Facilities
The Undergraduate Student Computer Laboratory is located in the Music Basement Annexe and is available to all currently enrolled music degree students between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday. The lab contains 10 Apple iMacs with external floppy disk drives, and a 1200dpi A4 laser printer. Software available in the lab includes Microsoft Office, web browsers and Finale. The lab is used by students for word-processing, research and composing.
The Music Technology Laboratory is located on the First Floor of the Conservatorium building. This lab is dedicated to the teaching and use of computer-based music technology. It contains 12 eMac computers, each with MIDI keyboard and sound module, and an A4 laser printer. Software available includes Finale for notation and Logic Express for MIDI/audio sequencing. Students enrolled in Computing for Musicians or Music Technology can access the lab from 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday with an approved passcard. Currently enrolled composition students may obtain 24 hour/7 day passcard access on approval by the Head of Composition.
The Postgraduate Computer Laboratory is located in Room 220 of the Conservatorium Building. It contains 4 eMac computers (one with flatbed scanner) with internet access, and a laser printer. Software available includes Microsoft Office, Finale, and scanner image & OCR software. Currently enrolled graduate students are eligible to obtain 24-hour/7-day passcard access.
There are several computer laboratories available to students elsewhere on campus:
- CSHE building (Student IT @ the CSHE), Monash Road
- Buddy workstations in the Baillieu, ERC and branch libraries
- Percy Baxter Collaborative Learning Centre, 1st floor, Baillieu Library
