Teaching Studios and Lecture Rooms
The Conservatorium building contains:
Melba Hall: 350-seat concert hall
Heinze Room: small lecture room (located upstairs, southern end)
Tallis Wing: small lecture room (located on the ground floor, northern end)
Electronic music studios: Studios 1 & 2 are located ground floor southern end; Studio 3 and the Control Room are upstairs southern end
Computer laboratory: in Zoology Basement Annexe.
Music Technology lab: located upstairs, northern end
Graduate Computer laboratory: located upstairs, northern end
The Music Annexe (Basement), located next door in the basement of the Zoology building, contains two seminar rooms: Loughlin Room and B81, and seven practice rooms.
210 Berkeley Street (off Grattan Street) where many ensembles rehearse and other Faculty teaching takes place.
214 Berkeley Street is a two-storey practice block with 17 rooms with pianos. Access by swipecard is available to Music students only, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
151 Barry St is the Faculty’s Graduate Centre and contains a seminar room and numerous research stations.
The Centre for Studies in Australian Music occupies a two-storey terrace building at 21 Royal Parade, and contains a seminar room and 6 research staff offices.
23 Royal Pde contains a number of student practice rooms.
25 Royal Pde houses the brass department and contains a number of teaching/practice rooms.
The Early Music Studio is located at 27 Royal Parade, across from the Conservatorium.
Central Spaces commonly used by the Faculty for large lectures, seminars and tutorials include: numerous spaces in the Old Arts building; Cussonia Court in the Old Quad; Turner Theatre in the Biology Building; and the Charles Pearson Lecture Theatre in the ERC building.
