Rosamund Illing
Rosamund Illing BMus(Hons) (Adelaide) is
one of Australia’s most distinguished and acclaimed sopranos. Her
career spans the breadth of the repertoire for lyric soprano in opera,
symphony and song. She has performed to critical acclaim in England,
France, Germany, Japan, the United States, Canada and Australia.
A graduate of the University of Adelaide, her operatic repertoire
embraces almost the entire spectrum of great soprano roles from the
baroque to verismo:
Alcina, Abigaille, Donna Anna, Elettra, Vitellia, Gilda, Norina,
Marguerite, Amelia, Cio Cio san, Liu, Mimi, Nedda and more. On the
concert platform she has performed with Sir Roger Norrington, Sir
Charles Mackerras,Sir Neville Mariner, Sir Georg Solti, Gustav Kuhn and
Richard Bonynge in association with many of the great orchestras.
Her concert repertoire ranges from Handel’s Messiah and Vivaldi’s Gloria to Mahler’s Symphonies 2,4 and 8, Strauss’ Four last Songs and the Verdi Requiem. She has an impressive discography.
