Thérèse Radic
Dr Thérèse Radic is an Associate Professor and Hon. Principal Fellow in the Faculty of Music, University of Melbourne.
She is the author/editor of nine books, sixteen plays and some 200 articles/monographs/chapters/reviews on aspects of Australian music history. The books include G.W.L. Marshall Hall: A Biography and Catalogue (2002); Songs of
Australian Working Life (1989); Melba: The Voice of Australia (1986); Bernard Heinze (1986); A Treasury of Favourite Australian Songs (1983, 2nd ed. 1988); G.W.L. Marshall-Hall: Portrait Of A Lost Crusader (1982) and as editor Race Against Time: the diaries of F.S.Kelly (2004); Repercussions (1995); and Playwrights' Handbook (1994. 2nd ed.,1997). The published plays are The Emperor Regrets (1992); Peach Melba (1990); Madame Mao (1986); A Whip Round for Percy Grainger (1984); and Some of My Best Friends Are Women co-authored with L. Radic (1983).
Thérèse Radic has been a lecturer, broadcaster, course designer and music consultant for museums, galleries, celebratory events, film, television and the stage. Boards and committees include Luna 1878-81; the Sesquicentennial Victorian Women’s Biographical Project 1981-2; Grainger Centenary 1980-82; executive body of the Australia Council 1984-7 and Chair of its Women in the Arts Committee; the Victorian bicentennial event Australai-Australia 1986-88; the Spoleto-Melbourne Fesitval 1986-90; the Ormond Chair Centenary Celebrations committee, Faculty of Music, University of Melbourne 1987; RIdIm [Repertoire International de Iconographie Musicale] Australian Committee 1989 –91; Board of Trustees of the Marshall-Hall Foundation 1988 -; Advisory Music Panel, Victorian Ministry of the Arts 1991-1992; Victorian Chapter Australian Writers’ Guild1991-1992; National Advisory Committee, 3rd International Women Playwrights Conference, Adelaide, 1993-4; Composing Women’s Festival Committee 1992-4, Chair of its Board 1993-4 and of its conference Sub-committee 1993-4; Editorial Advisory Board of the Journal of Australasian Music Studies 1995 -.
