Leave of Absence
Students who wish to interrupt their courses should apply for leave of absence. Leave of absence will normally be given to students in good academic standing for up to one year. Students returning from leave are required to inform the Faculty of their future study intentions six weeks prior to the end of their leave. Leave of absence is only granted for a semester or a whole year. Students who wish to apply for a shorter amount of time should make an appointment to discuss this with a Student Adviser. Students should note that they may be required to re-audition if resuming practical studies when they return from leave. A student interrupting a course without having sought leave of absence may be suspended from the course by the Academic Board.
To apply for Leave of Absence, complete the appropriate form, available from the Front Office.
Important note: With the introduction of the Melbourne Model and the phase out of pre-2008 degrees, Leave of Absence approvals will be subject to strict criteria. You should discuss your Leave of Absence options with a Student Adviser.
