Mentors and the Transition Program
To help your transition to life in the Faculty, every first year student is allocated to a peer mentor on enrolment, usually from third or fourth year of the BMus. Your mentor will conduct regular meetings and should be consulted about matters that arise during the year that may affect your progress in the course. Your mentor may refer you to the appropriate person for assistance if they cannot be of help initially. Dr. Linda Kouvaras (8344 4606, lindaik@unimelb.edu.au), along with the Academic Programs Office, coordinates the Faculty Mentor and Transition Program.
The Faculty also runs transition activities during Orientation and throughout the year, in conjunction with the University Transition Program. For information about the University’s extensive support network for new students, visit the Transition Program website at www.services.unimelb.edu.au/transition.
