Travelling Scholarships
Joyce McKenna Scholarship
$42,646 available. One only.
This scholarship is available to graduates of the Faculty of Music for a talented student to travel overseas to further his or her musical education.
Welsford Smithers Travelling Scholarship
$40,127. One only.
For graduates of the Faculty of Music to study overseas for two years.
Katherine Kearns Scholarship
Valued at $25,000 over 2 years. (More than one scholarship may be awarded).
This scholarship is for a student of piano, violin, viola or cello to study in Germany, France or the UK. Applicants must be no more than 30 years old and have Australian resident status. Before departure and on return, the awardee is expected to give a free concert in Ballarat, the hometown of the donor.
Donovan Johnson Memorial Scholarship
$22,293 available. (More than one scholarship may be awarded).
This scholarship is open to a person under 30 showing potential to become “…a recognized and respectable musician and/or singer,” to travel to undertake a study program.
A.E. Floyd Memorial Scholarship
$4,125. One only.
This scholarship is open to graduates of the Faculty of Music or music graduates of another approved Victorian University, under 30 years of age, who wish to travel to undertake further study.
Sir William McKie Travelling Scholarship
$1,800. One only.
This scholarship is open to graduates of the Faculty of Music to enable a student to study at a school of music in London.
Postgraduate Study in the Faculty of Music
Judd/De Kretzer Scholarship
$58,844 available. (More than one scholarship may be awarded).
For Australian students of piano enrolled in the Faculty of Music.
Corinna D’Hage Mayer Scholarship
$30,000 available. (More than one scholarship may be awarded).
Open to Australian string students wishing to take advanced study in the Faculty of Music.
Ormond Exhibition
$10,000. One only.
This scholarship is awarded to the best current postgraduate student from the Faculty of Music, not in receipt of other postgraduate award. It is to be used for research or postgraduate study. A research postgraduate study proposal should be included with this application.
F.W. Homewood Memorial Scholarship
$2,200. One only.
This scholarship is open to Faculty of Music graduates, of not more than 5 years standing, to pursue further studies in piano.
Percy Jones Award
$884. One only.
Open to current postgraduate students of the Faculty of Music pursuing studies in Musicology.
Applications
Applicants can be considered for multiple scholarships via a single application, and should indicate in their application which scholarships are being sought.
Applications should take the form of a letter addressed to Professor Catherine Falk, Head of the School of Music (Parkville), and should include (unless otherwise indicated):
- a curriculum vitae of your musical experience;
- a proposed budget and travel/study itinerary;
- two references;
- a copy of your most recent academic transcript .
