Postgraduate Admissions
Australian Residents
Australian Citizens, New Zealand Citizens and Permanent Residents should complete an application for admission on the appropriate form. Applicants are required to meet the English language requirements. Please note that applying for a place does is not the same as applying for a scholarship: a separate scholarship application form must be submitted and is available online from the Melbourne Scholarships Office.
International students
New international students should complete an 'Application for Admission as an International Postgraduate Student' and return the form to the International Office. The application for candidature also includes an application for scholarships. Applicants are required to meet the English language requirements.
Closing Dates
Applications close 30 September in the year prior to entry (except where specified). Applicants should note that auditions will be held the last week of October and the first week of November.
Applications for mid-year entry close 30 April; auditions will be held from in late May/early June.
Late applications will be considered, but late applicants in Performance should note that they may be called to audition at short notice.Application forms are available from the Graduate Programs Office (Music) and in pdf format online. Applicants should complete the application forms and attach original or certified copies of all academic records. Applications should be forwarded to the Graduate Programs Office, Faculty of Music, The University of Melbourne, Victoria 3010 by the closing date. Please refer to the segments outlining course details for specific application requirements and closing dates.
Scholarships
Research scholarships are of fundamental importance in research education at the University of Melbourne. They are available for outstanding Australian or permanent resident students who wish to pursue higher degrees by research (PhD, approved Research Higher Doctorates and Masters degrees).
