 Books

The Music Branch Library holds a large number of books on music related topics, all listed on the computer catalogue.

These range from general textbooks,  giving a useful overview of a subject for the undergraduate student (eg. Claude V. Palisca's Baroque Music), to books on a very specific topic, often the result of years of intensive research (e.g. Richard Taruskin's Stravinsky and the Russian Traditions).

In addition to books such as these written by a single author (known as monographs), the library holds many books that are compilations of essays on related subjects by a number of different authors, such as Schubert: Critical and Analytical Studies edited by Walter Frisch.

Your lecturer will normally provide you with a recommended reading list for each subject, listing most of the important reference works.
