Periodical Articles |
|
Another extremely useful way of accessing scholarship related to your topic is through periodical (or journal) articles. A periodical is a scholarly journal published, as the name implies, periodically (usually between 1 and 4 times a year). Periodical articles are usually concise, specific, current and authoritative (and often interesting). They are normally refereed by experts in the field and articles are therefore of a reliable standard. You will be expected to consult periodical articles in the preparation of your research essays, and to include them in your bibliography. The Music Branch Library holds over 300 journal titles, which are shelved near the catalogues, alphabetically by title (call number prefix P). Many music periodicals are now also available in full-text online versions, via services such as JSTOR. Electronic journals can be accessed via the 'Find e-journal' tab of SuperSearch.
