Theses and Dissertations |
|
|
Theses (or dissertations) are formal papers based on original research, usually associated with Higher Degree studies. Generally they are unpublished works (though many are later published in book form). Students undertaking higher degrees are expected to be acquainted with recent theses in areas related to their field of study. Copies of theses may be obtained through ILL; a copy will be either purchased or borrowed in microfilm or hard copy. Fourth-year dissertation students will normally only be expected to consult theses that are very closely related to their topics, or those held by the University of Melbourne. Masters and PhD Theses completed at the University of Melbourne are held in the Special Collections section of the Baillieu Library. They are on closed access, but can be read in the Special Collections Reading Room on the 3rd Floor.
